Bob Beavers had been the chairman at the Barnsley Branch since 1999.  On Sunday 17th October 2006 he passed away.  At his funeral there was a horse drawn hearse accompanied by 20 Morris Minors.  His significant contribution to the branch is still felt to this day and we commemorate him every year by awarding the Bob Beavers memorial trophy to the person voted by the members to have contributed the most to the club over the previous year.

At the 1999 A.G.M. of the Barnsley Branch morris Minor owners club, Bob Beavers was elected as chairman of the branch.  He had been effectively carrying out the role in an acting capacity for a short while.  Bob Beavers made a lasting contribution to the branch throughout his time as Chairman and as a member of the branch, so much so that we still award the “Bob Beavers” trophy annually to the member of the Branch who has contributed the most to the Branch over the year as voted for by the members.
